SALEM – The Bobcat split with McCook Central/Montrose on Friday at Thunder Alley, with the girls winning 27-23 and the boys falling 36.5-13.5.

Kyra Ernst paced Brookings with a 411 (118-177-116) series. Ellie Fitzpatrick added a 379 (123-143-113), Katlyn Pederson a 332 (123-103-106) and Brooklyn Hieb a 309 (128-99-82). Abby Fitzpatrick contributed games of 138 and 108, Alison Marshall 113 and 97, and Brooke Seeley 116 and 84.

For the boys, Alex Couser had a 456 (150-163-143) series, Carter Hieb a 431 (156-119-156), Lee Krueger a 391 (129-130-132), Evan Vernarsky a 355 (111-142-102) and Mason McManus a 338 (108-142-88). Stanley Scubelek chipped in with games of 118 and 116, and Aarick Dicke rolled a 100.

The state tournament is Friday at Prairie Lanes in Brookings.
