Bombers Maroon split with Sioux Falls West

BROOKINGS – The Bombers Maroon split a 13U baseball doubleheader with Sioux Falls West on Tuesday evening at Mickelson Field, bouncing back from a 7-6 loss with a 16-1, three-inning victory in the nightcap.

Brookings (17-10) plays host to Aberdeen in a twinbill Sunday at 1 p.m. to round out the regular season.

Game 1

 Sioux Falls West 7, Brookings 6

The visitors put up four runs in the sixth inning, turning a three-run deficit into a 7-6 advantage.

The Bombers Maroon’s Max Enevoldsen went 2-for-3 and Justin Cofell finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Nathan Lease singled and drove in a run. Carter Wright added an RBI. Parker Winghart (two runs) and Zach Struck both added a hit.

Game 2

 Brookings 16, Sioux Falls West 1 (3 inn.)

The Bombers Maroon got off to a hot start with 14 runs in the opening inning.

Nathan Lease went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a pair of runs. Matt Nordmeyer ended up 2-for-2 with three RBIs.

Justin Cofell was 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and three runs. Carter Wright doubled and drove in three runs.

Kellan Aure added two RBIs and Rocklyn Dauphinias (single), Parker Winghart and Jaxton Eack tallied one apiece. Zach Struck contributed a hit.

Tyson Brandt gave up one run on four hits with two strikeouts in three innings to earn the pitching win.
