BPD police log June 28-30

8:15 a.m. Officer DeJong was dispatched to the 1300 block of Main Avenue South for a two-vehicle, non-injury crash. A report was filed.

11:19 a.m. A Brookings resident filed a report regarding harassing/threatening messages.

12:15 p.m. Officers responded to the 300 block of Ash Avenue for the report of an assault. An adult male was arrested on assault charges.

7:52 p.m. A report was filed in regard to a stolen flower pot.

Friday, June 29

2:23 a.m. Officer Bonnema stopped a motor vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver was arrested for possessing a cancelled license.

3:27 a.m. An officer was called to the Brookings ER to take a report of someone who had been sexually assault. An investigation is ongoing at this time.

7:05 a.m. Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Second Avenue for a male and female fighting. An investigation was conducted, and the female was arrested for simple assault domestic. A report was filed.

1:08 p.m. Officer Franklin took a report of counterfeit money being passed in the 300 block of Fifth Street.

2:35 p.m. The Brookings Police Department received a report of a theft of fishing equipment which was taken from a garage in Brookings. Follow-up investigation led to the recovery of some of the fishing equipment.

7:18 p.m. Officer Larsen responded to a non-injury accident in the 400 block of Fourth Street. A report was filed.

Saturday, June 30

1 a.m. Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Main Avenue for a male who attempted to stab another male with a broken beer bottle. The suspect was later arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

2:13 a.m. Officer Asmus conducted a welfare check on an intoxicated male on the 500 block of Third Street. The male was arrested for a warrant.

5:37p.m. Officers responded to the 200 block of Third Avenue South in reference to an assault. One male was arrested for simple assault domestic and interference with emergency communications.

6:52 p.m. A traffic stop was conducted in the 1100 block of Sixth Street for speeding. As a result of the stop, the driver and passenger were both arrested and charged with multiple offenses.
