PIERRE – The Bobcats broke open a close game with a strong fourth quarter to beat the Lady Governors, 66-48, on Friday night in Pierre.
Ava Burns scored 23 points to lead Brookings, which improved to 12-4 on the season and 9-3 against Eastern South Dakota Conference foes.
Johanna Miller chipped in with 17 points with an efficient 7-of-8 from the floor and 3-for-4 from the foul line while Michaela Jewett finished with 13 points – 11 of which came in the second half.
Alli Gordon added nine points and Kailee Bartels totaled four to finish off the Bobcats’ scoring.
Emily Mikkelsen notched 20 points to lead Pierre, which dropped to 2-14 and 0-8 against ESD teams.
The Bobcats play host to Yankton on Tuesday night at Bob Jostad Gymnasium. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
