Cardinals top Hawks, Divers down Panthers

COLMAN – Arlington got off to a strong start to build a 27-23 halftime lead, and then, put away the Hawks with a 21-9 edge in the third quarter en route to a 61-51 Dakota Valley Conference victory over Colman-Egan on Monday night.

The home team, which trailed by 16 points with 2:10 left in the third, put together a 19-13 run in the final frame but came up short to fall to 11-5 overall and 5-3 in the DVC.

Trevor Larsen dropped 24 points and pulled down six rebounds to lead the Cardinals, who improved to 14-2 and 7-1 in league play.

Trey Ramstad chipped in with 16 points, five boards, four assists, seven steals and a blocked shot while Devon Heuer added 15 points, nine rebounds, five dimes and four takeaways.

Nate Tolley led Colman-Egan with 21 points as Dalton Voelker posted a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds, to go along with four assists, three steals and three blocks.

On Thursday, the Hawks play host to Lake Preston while Arlington travels to Chester on Friday to face the Flyers.

LAKE PRESTON – The host Divers doubled up Great Plains Lutheran in the second quarter to take a 31-19 halftime lead and cruised to a 57-35 nonconference win on Monday night.

Lake Preston led 15-11 after the first eight minutes; extended its halftime lead to 42-29 through three; and then, outscored the Panthers, 15-6, in the fourth to improve to 4-12 on the season.

Jasper Denison posted a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds, to go along with a couple of blocks for the Divers, while Paydon Casper contributed 14 points, seven rebounds, five steals, three assists and three blocked shots.

Byron Bumann added nine points and five dimes as Tate Larsen tacked on eight markers.

Joes Tisher’s 12 points led GPL, which dropped to 0-16. Chris Schlect had seven rebounds as Sam Hansen dished out three assists.

Lake Preston travels to Ramona tonight to face Oldham-Ramona/Rutland while the Panthers travel to Florence to take on Florence/Henry.
