WATERTOWN – The ‘Chutes managed just one run in 10 at-bats as they dropped a Junior American Legion doubleheader, 15-1 and 16-0, to Watertown on Friday at the Stadium.
Brookings, 10-15 on the season, plays host to Brandon Valley on Monday in a 5 p.m. doubleheader at Bob Shelden Field.

Post 17 banged out nine hits and took advantage of six Brookings errors to end the game early via the run rule.
Watertown led 13-0 through three innings before the ‘Chutes put up a run in the fourth inning.
Jamison Honkomp walked with one out, but was forced out at second on Cole Mahlum’s fielder’s choice. But an error on the double play attempt allowed Mahlum to reach second before Kyle Bauer drove him in with a double.
Caden Wright suffered the loss after giving up eight runs – six earned – in 1 1/3 innings of work. He allowed three hits and walked four to go along with one strikeout.
Nick Schefers tossed 1 1/3 innings of relief – surrendering five earned runs on five hits and two walks before Honkomp threw the final 1 1/3 – giving up two earned runs on one hit and one walk.
