The Colman A’s picked up a pair of wins this week, beating Dell Rapids PBR 14-5 on the road on Tuesday and then dropping Hartford/Humboldt 14-3 in eight innings at home on Wednesday.

Colman A’s pick up two wins

The Colman A’s picked up a pair of wins this week, beating Dell Rapids PBR 14-5 on the road on Tuesday and then dropping Hartford/Humboldt 14-3 in eight innings at home on Wednesday.

The A’s and Gamecocks square off again Sunday at 5 p.m. in Humboldt.

Wednesday: Colman 14, Hartford/Humboldt 3 (8 inn.)

COLMAN – The A’s put up five runs in the second inning, six in the fifth and three in the eighth.

Paul Clark capped a 3-for-3 performance at the plate with a walkoff three-run homer in the eighth.

Paul Clark had a two-run single and Deon Entringer tallied a two-RBI double in the second frame. Colt Hawkins added a sacrifice fly.

In the fifth, Billy Stitz recorded a two-run double and Clark notched another two-RBI single.  Jake Otkin had a run-scoring single and Mike Preheim drove in a run with a groundout.

Clark finished 2-for-4 with the four RBIs. He picked up the pitching win after allowing two runs – one earned – on five hits with two strikeouts and a walk in seven innings.

Entringer was 3-for-4. Stitz and Otkin both went 2-for-4. Clark scored three runs.

The A’s totaled 13 hits.

The Gamecocks scored twice in the third inning to pull within 5-2 and added their other run in the eighth.

Tuesday: Colman 14, Dell Rapids PBR 5

DELL RAPIDS – The A’s scored six times in the sixth inning, turning a one-run lead into an 11-4 advantage. They added one run in the eighth and two in the ninth.

Colman trailed 1-0 early, but put up four runs in the second and one in the fourth to move ahead 5-2. Dell Rapids pulled within 5-4 with two runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Billy Stitz, who went 3-for-5 with two doubles, and Paul Clark, who finished 2-for-4, had back-to-back two-run singles in the second. Stitz added an RBI double in the fourth.

Deon Entringer highlighted the big sixth frame with a three-run homer. He went 3-for-6 in the contest.

Tim Kuphal added a two-RBI triple in the sixth. He went 3-for-6.

Aaron Entringer ended up 3-for-4. Adam Fritz, Mike Preheim and Jake Otkin added two hits apiece as Colman racked up 20 on the night, including seven that went for extra bases.

Kuphal gave up four runs – three earned – on 10 hits with six strikeouts and three walks in seven innings to earn the win. Clark pitched the final two frames, allowing one run – unearned – on three hits.
