Combine catches fire near Volga

VOLGA – A combine caught fire north of Volga Wednesday, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.

The fire was reported at 6:56 p.m. Wednesday and occurred near 464th Avenue and 209th Street, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said.

“The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office along with the Volga Fire Department responded to the above location for a combine on fire,” Sebring said.

“Upon arrival, crews discovered the John Deere F670 had smoke coming from the rear. Fire crews were able to extinguish the flames,” Sebring said.

“At this time, it is still unknown how much damage the combine received during the incident. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time,” Sebring said.
