Daum ties record with 15th Summit League Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award

SIOUX FALLS – For the third consecutive week and fourth time this season, South Dakota State senior Mike Daum was named Summit League’s Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Daum became the Summit League’s all-time leading scorer last week, moving past UMKC’s Michael Watson and Oral Roberts’ Caleb Green in the league’s record book with a 42-point showing against Southern.

Daum hit 13-of-18 from the field and buried 14-of-15 at the free-throw line in the fourth 40-plus scoring performance of his career. He added a team-high eight rebounds.

He scored 18 points in a road loss to Memphis.

Daum now resides at No. 63 on the NCAA Division I career scoring chart with 2,509 points.

The forward from Kimball, Neb., averaged 30 points and six rebounds over the two games, shooting 57.6 percent from the field with six 3-pointers. He added a 16-of-17 effort at the charity stripe for the weel.

Daum has now been recognized 15 times in his career as the league’s weekly honoree, tied with Nate Wolters and Green for the most in league history.

He was the Summit League Men’s Athlete of the Month in November.
