Five season-bests highlight Day 2 for the Jackrabbit men

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The South Dakota State swimming and diving team set five season-bests as the team finished day two at the Hawkeye Invitational Friday night.

Outside of the five season-bests, six others on the men’s side swam personal season-bests. The Jacks currently sit in seventh place with 85 points. Purdue leads the men’s side with 586.5 points while Minnesota leads the women (764).

Men’s Sprints

Trever Brenner swam a season-best 50.30 in the 100 fly, placing 25th.

Wyatt Rumrill finished the 100 breast in a season-best 58.52.

Jared Miller posted a season-best 51.93 to finish 23rd in the 100 back. 

Men’s Distance

Miller set another season-best in the 400 IM (4:12.41), finishing 20th.

Damon Venner (4:17.78) and Jacob Sutej (4:19.03) swam season personal-bests in the 400 IM. 

Men’s Relay

The 200 medley relay ‘A’ team (Wuflestad, Rumrill, Watkins, Brenner) finished with a season-best 1:34.28.

The Jacks posted a 6:59.83 (Brenner, Watkins, Skinner, B.Johnson) in their first 800 free relay of the season, placing 13th. 

Up Next

The Jacks wrap up the Hawkeye Invitational tomorrow night at 6 p.m. in the third and final day of competition. 

The final 14 events will include the 1,650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, platform diving and 400 free relay Saturday.
