Jackrabbit reigning falls to Oklahoma State

WACO, Texas – The No. 7 South Dakota State reining team dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 2 Oklahoma State on Friday in the quarterfinals of the NCEA National Championship.

“Our reiners rode against a tough opponent today in OSU,” SDSU assistant coach Logan Pluhar said. “Historically, they have always been very strong in reining and our girls were right there with them today which is something that they can take away from this national Championship and use to get better in the future. Without adversity, we’d never grow, so I’m thankful for that.  If a few little things had gone our way, we might have been moving on, but the details are what separates teams at this high of a level.”

Senior Miranda Sullivan tied Danielle Cohen with a 140.5.

Mariah Wright closed out her collegiate-career with a 139 in a loss to Julia Purus’ 140.

The Jackrabbits finished the season 5-7 overall.
