BROOKINGS – The South Dakota State women’s basketball team will wear pink jerseys to show support and raise awareness for breast cancer awareness when it plays Purdue Fort Wayne in the Think Pink game Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Frost Arena.

A live auction of the Jackrabbits’ Under Armour jerseys will take place immediately following the game with proceeds benefiting the Edith Sanford Breast Cancer Foundation. Burlage Peterson Realty & Auctioneers will run the auction.

“We are looking forward to hosting our annual Think Pink game in Frost Arena. Our goal is to raise awareness and resources to help support the Edith Sanford Breast Cancer Foundation and the individuals who are fighting this difficult disease,” 19th-year SDSU head coach Aaron Johnston said.

Last year, jerseys sold for between $500 and $2,500, raising more than $13,000, for Team Edith.

“Thank you to the support of the SDSU women’s basketball team and their incredible fans,” said Edith Sanford Breast Foundation development officer Leah Fjerstad Wood. “With their support, Edith Sanford is able to continue delivering the highest standard of breast cancer care and cutting-edge research across the region. One hundred percent of every dollar raised goes directly to local patient care and research. Thank you again for your continued support.”
