Sheriff's office: Beware of flooded roads

BROOKINGS – The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office is urging the public to use caution when travelling on county and township roads due to flooding.

“We have had numerous calls regarding water over the road and culverts being washed out,” Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said. “If you come across water over the road, please do not drive through the water, as the road could be washed out, and take an alternate route.”

Sebring said anyone who encounters washed-out roads or culverts should contact their local township officers or, on county roads, the Brookings County Highway Department at 696-8270.
