South Dakota State softball adds six on National Signing Day

South Dakota State softball coach Krista Wood announced six signees to the Jackrabbit softball program as part of Wednesday’s national signing day. All six additions will enroll at SDSU for the 2019-20 school year as incoming freshman and be eligible to play immediately for the Jacks.

“This recruiting class a very dedicated, talented group of student-athletes who will help take our Jackrabbit softball program to the next level,” Wood said. “In addition to their standout play on the field, these young women have shown great integrity and leadership which will continue to grow our culture. I am very excited and proud to be signing this class at South Dakota State.”

  •  Jocelyn Carrillo – 5-7, C/OF, R/R, Palmdale, Calif.; Highland H.S.

Will graduate from Highland High School (Palmdale, California) in May 2019 after playing her senior season in the spring ... three-time All-League First Team selection (2016-18) ... entering senior year holds a .464 career batting average, a .527 on-base mark and a 1.288 OPS ... has posted a career .996 fielding percentage ... hit 10 home runs during junior year (2018) ... team won Division 6 California State Championship in 2017-18 school year ... named school’s defensive player of the year as a junior and earned offensive honors as a sophomore while leading all classes within the state in home runs (19) and runs batted in (71) ... ranked 105th among California prospects and spent time in 2018 with Junior Mexico National Team ... also played volleyball and earned team MVP honors in 2015 ... holds a 3.60 cumulative grade point average and earned the school’s student-athlete award in 2016-18 with a spot on the 2018 honor roll ... born Aug. 20, 2001 in Lancaster, California ... daughter of Mandy and Arturo Carillo ... plans to major in exercise science.

Will graduate from Roosevelt High School (Sioux Falls, South Dakota) in May 2019 ... listed as No. 23 of FloSoftball’s Top 100 recuits in the country for 2019 ... played one season of high school softball (2018) and was named First Team All-State, hitting .451 with seven home runs and 26 runs batted in, adding a 1.25 ERA, .658 WHIP and 113 strikeouts in the circle over 14 games ... helped high school win 2018 State Tournament and was an All-Tournament team pick and the Argus Leaders’ Athlete of the Week after hitting a walk-off, two-run home run in the semifinals... won four consecutive state championships with South Dakota Renegades club program ... helped team to second-place finish at 2016 PGF Premier Nationals and the No. 9 spot at 2017 tournament ... finished 2018 club season with a .403 batting average, 1.228 on-base plus slugging mark, 12 home runs, 36 runs batted in the box and had a 1.88 ERA in the circle ... four-year academic honor roll selection and National Honor Society member ... born Oct. 3, 2000 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota ... daughter of Brent and Jodi Glanzer ... major is undecided.
