Three arrested after burglary

BROOKINGS – Two suspects were arrested for burglary and one resident at the scene was arrested on an outstanding warrant this weekend, according to the Brookings Police.

The burglary was reported at 12:29 a.m. Sunday and occurred in the 800 block of Fifth Street South, Lt. Marci Gebers said.

Officers made contact with one male resident and two suspects, she said.

The suspects taken into custody were Matthew Booton, 42, of Brookings, and Jamey Jensen, 44, of Volga.

“The male resident there was inside his residence when Booton and Jensen drove up onto the grass of his residence and ended up making forced entry into the residence, where they assaulted the male resident,” Gebers said.

Booton and Jensen were each charged with first-degree burglary and simple assault.

Booton also had an outstanding warrant out of Brookings County for failure to appear, and Jensen was placed on a parole hold, Gebers added.

“Alcohol was a factor in this,” she added.

“There was a male resident who was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant and possession of drug paraphernalia,” Gebers said.

The warrant on Nathaniel Dicosimo, 38, of Brookings, was for a probation violation out of Wisconsin.

All three men were taken to the Brookings County Detention Center.

An ambulance responded and evaluated individuals on scene, but no one was transported to the hospital, Gebers said.
