SISSETON – Sioux Valley freshman Julia Steffensen and senior Madisyn Christensen qualified for state during the Region 1A Girls’ Golf Tournament on Thursday at Valley View.
The top 27 individuals and top three teams advanced to state.
Madison won the team title with a 414 total, while Sisseton (420) was second and Milbank (449) third. Dell Rapids (460) was fourth but had four individuals qualify.
The Cossacks were seventh at 473.
Steffensen carded a 103 to place eighth individually.
Christensen was 23rd following a 120.
Madison’s Mya Maxwell carded a 92 to earn medalist honors. Sisseton’s Courtney Heath (93) and Kelsey Heath (95) were second and third, respectively.
The Class A State Girls’ Golf Tournament is June 3-4 at at Lee Park in Aberdeen.
