BROOKINGS – A woman was injured after she lost control of her vehicle due to road conditions Wednesday, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident was reported at 7:12 a.m. Wednesday on 206th Street near 461st Avenue, south of Oakwood Lakes State Park, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said.
Lisa Vandekieft, 35, of Brookings, was driving a 2006 Nissan Ultima eastbound on 206th Street.
“As it was nearing the intersection of 461st Avenue, it began to lose control on the washboards in the road. The road was also icy at the time and the driver was unable to regain control of the vehicle. The vehicle entered the south ditch where it rolled onto its top,” Sebring said.
Vandekieft was taken by private party to the Brookings hospital to be treated for unknown injuries, he added.
The Nissan was deemed a total loss.
