Youth to lead worship at Presbyterian service

BROOKINGS – The children and youth of First Presbyterian Church will lead the congregation in worship Sunday, celebrating the Christmas story in song, scripture and skits.

“Twas the Night Before Christmas” shares the meaning and contemporary relevance of a story more than 2,000 years old. 

Participants include: Adam Young, Andrew Sweebe, Paige Foster, Stanley Scubelek, Gayle Foster, Emma Moerke, Skylar Hinricher, Allison Moerke, Trent Broksieck, Dylan Scubelek, Ramsie Hinricher and Saige Hinricher.

The service begins at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary of the church, located at 405 7th Ave.

Another special service is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 23, “Musical Sunday of Love,” celebrating the fourth Sunday of Advent. This service will offer worship in scripture and song, featuring the Chancel Choir, directed by Dr. Anna DeGraff, and solos and small ensemble numbers. This service also begins at 10:30 a.m.

Christmas Eve services begin at 7 p.m. with a Christmas message by the Rev. Nina T. Westfall and special music by the Chancel Choir.

All are warmly welcomed to attend these services. The vision of First Presbyterian Church is to see lives changed through joyful worship, supportive relationships, faith formation, and heartfelt service empowered by the mercy, grace, and love of Jesus Christ.
