WATERTOWN — Morgan Norgaard had three hits and Kymber Buys smashed a home run as the Bobcats’ lineup powered Brookings to an 11-7 win over Watertown on Tuesday night.

Buys’s solo blast put the Bobcats on the board in the top of the second inning and Brookings was in business after Madi Wadsworth led off the top of the third inning with a single and Norgaard followed with a double.

Kylie Moe drove in a run with a single to give Brookings a 3-0 lead and after hitting a double earlier in the inning, Tess Burns stole home to give the Bobcats a 4-0 lead. But Watertown rallied using RBI doubles by Jade Lund and Alexa Brown and an RBI single by Aleia Johnston to tie the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the third inning.

Brookings regained the lead in the top of the fourth inning, however, when Tessa Twedt led off with a single and Norgaard hit a two-run homer to put the Bobcats up 6-4. The Arrows rallied again with a Lily Pressler RBI double and an RBI single by Kinsley Van Gilder to tie the game at 6-6 in the bottom of the fourth inning. But

Brookings loaded the bases in the bottom of the fifth with a walk by Buys, a double by Sydney Bebensee and a walk by Keisha Cushing and Twedt and Brooklyn Bethin cashed in with back-to-back two-run doubles to give the Bobcats a 10-6 lead.

Brown homered to help Watertown cut the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning but Bebensee added an RBI single in the top of the sixth to put the game away.

Burns started the game allowing seven earned runs on eight hits and two walks with eight strikeouts over 4.1 innings. Moe came on in relief allowing one walk and striking out two batters over the final 2.2 innings to earn the win.

Norgaard finished 3-for-5 with two RBI, a double, a home run and two runs scored while Buys went 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored. Bebensee also finished 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored an RBI and two stolen bases while Moe went 2-for-4 with a run scored, two RBI and two stolen bases.

Burns went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and a stolen base while Twedt went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. Kinzey Grendler also had a single in the win. Cushing also had a stolen base in the win.

The Bobcats improved to 2-0 on the year with the win and will host Aberdeen Central at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
