The Medary Chapter of the South Dakota Society Daughters of the American Revolution recently awarded the Good Citizen's Award and Scholarship to Olivia Lacher-Starace from Brookings High School. Olivia wrote a moving essay on what being a Good Citizen means to her.
Olivia accepted her DAR Good Citizen Scholarship and award on Feb. 17 during the monthly meeting of the Medary Chapter. Olivia was accompanied by her parents, Mike Starace and Jennifer Lacher-Starace, and brother Jonathan.
The Daughters of the American Revolution is a service group made up of women who are committed to community service, preserving history, educating children, and honoring those who serve or have served our nation. Any woman 18 or older who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible to join.
