The ‘Yotes will play top-seeded South Dakota State on Thursday at 11 a.m. and the Roos will take on No. 2 seeded Omaha at 1:30 p.m. The losers of those two games will meet in an elimination game at 4 p.m. and the winners will play at 1 p.m. on Friday.

No. 4 South Dakota 6, No. 5 North Dakota 5 (10 inn.)
An RBI bunt single from Clara Edwards in the bottom of the 10th inning allowed the Coyotes to advance and avoid elimination on Wednesday.

USD jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. The ‘Yotes put runners on second and third with one out and Tatum Villotta scored on a wild pitch. Delaney White then hit a single that scored Alivia Conte and she came around to score on a double from Alexia Terrazas.

The Fighting Hawks tied the game in the fourth. Mariah Peters hit an RBI double and Brooklyn Morris followed with a two-run single to make it 3-3 heading into the bottom of the fourth.

The Coyotes would then regain the lead in the bottom of the inning. They had the bases loaded with two outs and Maddox Boston came to the plate. She hit a hard ground ball to third and it went under the third baseman’s glove and that made it 5-3 heading into the fifth.

UND got one of those runs back in the top of the fifth when Katelyn Neumayer hit an RBI double. The Fighting Hawks then tied the game in the top of the seventh. Cassie Casteneda came to the plate with a runner on third and flew out to right field. Oilvia Dick tagged up on the play and was tagged out but the catcher was called for catcher’s interference and the game went to extra innings.

Conte doubled to lead off the bottom of the 10th and then advanced to third on a White ground out. That set up the game-winning bunt from Edwards.

White went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Edwards and Terrazas each went 1-for-4 with an RBI. Conte went 3-for-5.

Kori Wedeking picked up the win for the ‘Yotes. She pitched the final three and a third innings and gave up no runs on two hits with one strikeout and one walk.

The Roos jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first three innings and that was enough to get them the win.

Kansas City struck first in the second inning. Sydney Nichols and Kadin Vire both walked and Eelleana Navarro hit a single to load the bases up with one out. Katie Noble then drew a walk and that scored Nichols to make it 1-0 heading into the third.

The Roos would then add three more runs in the third. Lexy Smith and Briona Woods hit back-to-back doubles to make it 2-0. Vire was then hit by a pitch with one out and Navarro singled to right field to score Woods. Vire scored on an error by the right fielder to make it 4-0 heading into the fourth.
