The Duebrook boys’ basketball team saw its season come to a close on Friday night as the Dolphins fell to De Smet in the Region 2B semifinals in Huron.

Deubrook falls to De Smet in Region 2B Playoffs

HURON — The Duebrook boys’ basketball team saw its season come to a close on Friday night as the Dolphins fell to De Smet in the Region 2B semifinals in Huron.

De Smet jumped out to a 23-10 lead in the first quarter and then took a 29-14 lead into halftime. The Bulldogs extended their lead to 37-24 at the end of the third quarter and then outscored the Dolphins 17-9 in the fourth quarter.

The Dolphins shot 35.7% from the field and were 2-of-17 from three. Colton Trooien led Deubrook with 13 points. Jacob Jorenby had 12 points.

Tom Aughenbaugh led the Bulldogs with 15 points. Kadyn Fast had 14 points, four rebounds and four assists. Trace Van Regenmorter had eight points and eight rebounds and George Jensen had seven points and seven rebounds. Britt Carlson had nine points.

Deubrook had 21 rebounds and De Smet had 34. The Dolphins had 12 turnovers and three steals. The Bulldogs had five turnovers and eight steals. Duebrook was 1-of-7 at the free throw line and De Smet was 5-of-6 at the charity stripe.

The Dolphins finished the season with a record of 11-11. De Smet improved to 19-3 and will play Timber Lake in the Class B SoDak 16 on Tuesday in Miller at 6 p.m.
