Jackrabbits co-lead Summit Championships

SELLERSBUG, Ind. - The South Dakota State men’s golf team is tied for the lead at the Summit League Championships with 18 holes left to play at Covered Bridge Golf Club. A pair of Jackrabbits are inside the top five on the individual leaderboard.

SDSU carded a 281 (-7) as a team during Monday’s round, bringing their 36-hole tally to 18-under. The Jacks are tied with Oral Roberts at the top of the leaderboard and have a four-shot lead over Kansas City (-14). South Dakota is in fourth at -9.

All five Jackrabbits shot par or better Monday. Ty Kretz tallied an even-par round and is tied for second place at 6-under. He is only one shot behind the leader. Kretz was +1 on the front nine, then steady through the back nine with one birdie to go 1-under.

Tyler Seeling fired a 70 (-2), moving him up three spots into a tie for fourth (139, -5). He had six birdies on the front nine and briefly moved into the lead before a 2-over back nine moved him back to fourth. Luke Honner and Blake Schaper are tied for 13th place with matching 142 (-2) scorecards, up three spots from their Sunday placing.

Bryson Mercier had the best round of the day for SDSU. He was tied for 41st place after Sunday’s round, then went 3-under (69) Monday to move all the way up to 24th place.

As a team SDSU has 50 birdies on the week, the most of all teams. Seeling’s 15 total birdies is the most of all players.

The final round of the Summit League Championships will be played Tuesday. SDSU will go off with the final group (Kansas City, Oral Roberts) starting at 9:40 a.m. ET.
