Julie Pederson, 43, of Brookings, SD, passed away on April 28,2024, peacefully at her home after battling her long-time medical issues.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, at First Lutheran Church in Brookings, SD. Visitation will be held the night prior from 5 to 6:45 p.m. with a 6:45 p.m. prayer service on Tuesday, May 7, , at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings. Wearing black to the Memorial Service was not what Julie would have wanted... The family asks that everyone wears bright colors (Pink was her favorite) to the service to show your support.
Julie was born to Jim and Debbie Pederson on January 7, 1981, at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. She joined her brother, Justin, and the family made their home in Brookings. Julie was a Brookings High School graduate, class of 1999, and went on to attend SDSU to major in Hospitality. Throughout her time there, she worked alongside her mother at their family restaurant, Café Ruby.
In 2000, Julie found out she was expecting a daughter and on July 7, 2001, her pride and joy, miracle baby, Jazlynn, joined the family. Jazlynn and Julie, along with Debbie, spent countless hours at cheerleading events and embraced the business of life. Jazlynn graduated from Brookings High School in 2019 and went on to attend Dakota State in Madison where she just graduated from with her Master’s Degree in Educational Technology. Jazlynn’s success is what kept Julie going and made her the proudest mom. Julie loved going to see Jazlynn in Madison and spending their time together shopping, baking treats or finding new snacks to try. Together, they shared Julie’s fur-babies; Adrian, Meah, Gracey and Gary. Julie loved her cats and Jazlynn more than anything and would fill any listening ear in on their stories.
Julies is survived by her daughter, Jazlynn of Brookings, SD; parents, Jim and Debbie Pederson of Brookings, SD; brother, Justin Pederson (Sam Sullivan - daughters Jayda and Addy) of Pierre, SD; uncle, Allan (Cheryl) Pederson of Jasper, MN; cousins, Mark, Mike, Stacey and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edwin and Delores Pederson and Harold and Darlene Weiss.
