Mary Ann Benz, 74, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at The Neighborhoods at Brookview in Brookings, SD.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 3, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Brookings, SD. Visitation will be held the night prior from 5 to 6:30 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings. Mary Ann Benz was born on Jan. 29, 1950, the daughter of Wilbert Sr. and Beryl Pillatzki. She grew up in Revillo, SD. Mary Ann attended and graduated from Grant Deuel High School in 1968. She continued her education at Watertown Business University and South Dakota State University. Mary Ann was united in marriage to Delvin Benz on Dec. 30, 1983. To this union, two children were born; Charlette and Matt.
She worked at Bob Allen’s and as a pizza cook at Casey’s General Store. Mary Ann also worked at Daktronics and as the First Grade Assistant Teacher at the Sioux Valley High School. She enjoyed sewing in her free time along with baking and cooking. Mary Ann was a talkative sweet loving lady who was very close in her faith. She was a part of the Catholic Daughters and was a part of the Live Wire Club.
Mary Ann was survived by her husband, Delvin; children, Charolette, Matt, Jay (Dede) Benz and Juanita (Roy) Corey; grandchildren, Brandon Benz, Ryan Frank, Alysha Christenson, Dylan Benz, Domanic Benz, Mercades Benz, along with many more grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousin and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert Sr. and Beryl Pillatzki, uncles Frank and Ervin, brother, Clarance Pillatzki and sister Suesan Ebbers.
