In Loving Memory of Thomas Myles Klosterman (May 18, 1935 – Jan. 14, 2024)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tom Klosterman, a beloved member of our community, on Jan. 14, 2024.  Born on May 18, 1935 to Myles and Francis (Walsh), he left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Tom married the love of his life, Dorothy Landsman, on Aug. 16, 1954, embarking on a journey of love, commitment, and shared adventures. Throughout the years, they found great pleasure in the camaraderie of playing cards, dancing, bowling, golfing and him engaging in friendly pool matches with his cherished friends.
In 1957, Tom graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Economics at South Dakota State College. He was drafted into the Army from 1957-1959 reporting to Ft. Carson in CO and at the U.S. Correctional Barracks in Ft. Leavenworth, KS.  Later, he worked at Federated Insurance in Owatonna. For 35 years, Tom dedicated his professional life to South Dakota State University, working in the Ag Engineering department and retired in 1998.
A devoted member of the St. Thomas More Church, Tom served on the building committee, making a lasting impact on the physical and spiritual foundations of the community. His commitment extended beyond the church walls as he lovingly maintained the vibrant flowers at St. Thomas More for over two decades, creating a serene and welcoming environment for all who entered.
Tom was also an integral part of community organizations, including the Golden K and the Knights of Columbus, where his fellowship and shared values enriched the lives of those around him. His creativity and passion were not confined to his community involvement; For over 25 years, he played a significant role in numerous parades with his Right to Life float which he constructed.
His faith held immense significance for him and he consistently sought ways to deepen his understanding of how to be the best man he could be in service to God. He attended retreats at the Abbey of the Hills during the last several years.
He was constantly involved in projects, whether it was creating cross sets or undertaking various home improvement tasks for his children and grandchildren.
Tom is survived by his loving children, Laura (Tom) Davis of Elkton and Michael (Mimi) Klosterman of Brandon. His grandchildren: Rachel, Elizabeth, Emily, Martin and Jensina, Daniel, Joshua, Ezekiel, Annabelle, Isaiah, Lydia, and Benjamin. Each one was a source of pride and joy for him.
He is also survived by his siblings: Don (Veralyn) Klosterman of Oregon, Kay (Don) Simon of Minnesota, and Candi Rochel of Elkton. Tom is remembered fondly by numerous in-laws, cousins, and a wide circle of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy, and his brother, Jim.
May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love and gratitude of those whose lives he touched so deeply.
