Vernon D. Smith, 61, of Gettysburg, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2024, at his home surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024, at the Gettysburg School Gym, with the Rev. Jeff Adel officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior.
Everyone is welcome to wear Battler gear, an old uniform, or dress comfortably.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024, at First United Methodist Church in Brookings, with the Rev. Pete Grassow presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in White.
Local survivors include: a son, Lucas of White; a brother Steven (Judy) Smith of White; a sister, Norma Krogman of Elkton; and sisters-in-law, Carol Smith of Elkton, Cheryl (Doug) Beste of Brookings and Linda Simmons Patrick of Aurora.
