A question mark heading into the 2016 season, the cornerback position for the South Dakota State University football team was quickly solidified by the emergence of Jordan Brown and the addition of Anthony Washington.

A junior from Scottsdale, Ariz., Brown tallied 40 tackles (35 solo) and two interceptions in starting all 13 games. He added three pass breakups.

Opposite Brown, Washington also started all 13 games en route to earning a spot on the Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Newcomer Team. A junior college transfer, Washington ranked fourth on the team with 57 tackles, broke up two passes, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble.

Others to see playing time at cornerback last season were first-year players Zy Mosley, Marshon Harris and Will Whiton. Mosley recorded 20 tackles and broke up three passes, while Harris played as a true freshman and notched five tackles. Whiton saw action mostly on special teams, but did register one tackle and broke up a pass.

Waiting in the wings are redshirt freshmen Joshua Manchigiah, Monté McGary and Donald Gardner from a strong 2016 recruiting class. Also returning is sophomore Lance Eide.
