BROOKINGS – City officials say 20th Street South from Rio Grande Avenue to Main Avenue South is now fully open to all vehicle traffic.

The street paving on the west end of the project has been completed, according to a City of Brookings press release. The pavement striping was recently finished, and traffic barriers and detours have been removed.

“Crews will continue to work on sidewalk, topsoil, seeding and streetlights. The contractors are working diligently to finish the remaining work. The final seeding and cleanup work is scheduled to be completed by mid-October or earlier if weather is favorable,” the release says.

“The City of Brookings would like to remind the public to be cautious when driving or walking through the project area, especially around work areas under construction,” the release says. “The City appreciates everyone’s patience during the final weeks of the project, and we are looking forward to utilizing the newly completed 20th Street South roadway.”
