BROOKINGS – Sleep in Heavenly Peace dodged hail and funnel clouds June 15, but with a lot of help, got 214 beds built in the Lowe’s parking lot.
“The build was fabulous,” said Dave Miller, president of the Brookings SHP. “We had 147 volunteers in the morning and 135 in the afternoon.”
Not only did they build 214 beds on Saturday, June 15, but built 65 beds at Larson Manufacturing on June 10, for a total of 279 in one week. More than 100 other SHP chapters across the country had bed builds that day, too.
“Wow!” Miller said. “Nationwide, there were 5,380 beds built by 8,534 volunteers on Saturday.”
“I’m ready to start delivering,” Miller added.
