BROOKINGS – The 22nd Avenue Reconstruction Project between Minnesota Drive and Eastbrook Drive will be starting soon.

Twenty-second Avenue will be closed to through traffic between Minnesota Drive and the north side of Eastbrook Drive starting Wednesday, April 17. The detour route will be on Sunrise Ridge Road and Eastbrook Drive. Traffic control and signage will be installed along the project to inform the public.

The contractor for the project is Timmons Construction, and the project includes full reconstruction to widen the current roadway, replacement of underground utilities, traffic signal upgrades, street lighting, sidewalk and shared-use path. The project is anticipated to be completed in November 2019.

“The city would like to remind the public to use caution when driving or walking near the project area, especially around work areas under construction. We appreciate everyone’s patience during the project, and the community is looking forward to an improved 22nd Avenue corridor,” according to a City of Brookings press release.
