The Medary Creek Beavers had their holiday party and potluck in Aurora at Little Hall on Dec. 4.

Members met at The Lanes for bowling before the potluck. Good food and treats were brought by families. President Maddisyn Thompson called the meeting to order. We said the flag pledge and the 4-H pledge. Members played a couple of games and competed against each other for gifts that members brought.

The Beavers also met on Jan. 8 to start the new year.

Maddisyn called the meeting to order. We said the flag pledge and the 4-H pledge. The roll call was “to give a 4-H New Year’s Resolution.” Hannah Jo read the secretary’s report, and we made no amendments. Jackson gave the treasurer’s report, and we made no amendments.

Old business: A report was given on tree decorating at the Community Center in Elkton, bell ringing at Walmart for the Salvation Army, Project Joy donations, and the Thanksgiving meal supplies which were donated. Phone books were also delivered by members of the Medary Creek Beavers.

New business: Maddisyn asked if everyone has completed and re-enrolled in 4-H online. The leaders meeting was scheduled for Jan. 9 and everyone is welcome to attend. There are many topics that were discussed including the Achievement Days T-shirt design contest, 4-H shooting sports practice, Sioux Empire Livestock Show and Judging. YQCA training will occur on Feb. 17, at 9:30 a.m. at the BCOAC; all livestock exhibitors must compete in this. Demonstration reminders were given as you must do present one to receive your three-year pin. Special Foods Contest will be at Sioux Valley High School on July 12, and this year’s Achievement Days will be July 31-Aug. 3.

Community service and 4-H promotion: This month we made ice cream cone bird feeders! Members also made tissue-stained glass vases.

The next meeting will be Feb. 5.
