BROOKINGS – Brookings high schoolers will have a chance to shine in their annual talent show Monday night.

The Presidents Day show will be at 7 p.m. at the high school’s V.A. Bell Auditorium, instead of the Performing Arts Center, where it has been for the past few years.

With auditions done with, 16 acts were selected to perform Monday night, including bands, instrumental pieces, dance routines and vocal pieces ranging from quartets to solos.

They’ll be able to take advantage of the no school day on Monday to rehearse throughout the day.

“I’m always amazed by what students can put together on their own. Nobody has help from teachers putting these acts together; this is students taking initiative on their own to showcase their talents. I think that’s what I like about it the best,” said Denise Perry, the school’s choir director.

The cost for admission is $3 for students and seniors and $5 for adults. Money from admissions goes toward the choir student council and has been used to help bring in guest artists, buying senior recognition gifts and even helped purchase a printer for the choir room.
