The Brookings AARP Foundation is offering free individual income tax preparation and e-filing for the 2022 tax year for low- and moderate-income taxpayers — with special attention to those aged 60 and up.

AARP offering free tax filing for low-income senior citizens

The Brookings AARP Foundation is offering free individual income tax preparation and e-filing for the 2022 tax year for low- and moderate-income taxpayers — with special attention to those aged 60 and up.

Appointments are necessary. Once you have all your necessary documents, make an appointment by calling 605-627-1793 and leaving your name and telephone number. Spell your last name and a volunteer will contact you, likely the next week.

Necessary documents include: Social Security statements, all 1099 forms, W-2s for wages or unemployment, health savings account documents or college tuition documentation. Please also bring your 2021 tax returns. 

You must also bring a government-issued ID and proof of your Social Security number.

They are strongly suggesting approved masks that cover nose and mouth be worn. If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or have been exposed to someone who has COVID or COVID symptoms, please do not make an appointment.
