Agatha Kayser - Alexandria

Agatha Kayser, 105, of Alexandria, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, at the United Living Center in Brookings.

Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary of Mercy Catholic Church in Alexandria. Burial is in the church cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell.

 Agatha Barbara Kayser was born Aug. 28, 1912, at Alexandria to John and Catherine (Majerus) Michels. She grew up attending St. Martin Catholic Grade School in Emery and graduated from Alexandria High School. Following graduation she did clerical work at various businesses until her marriage to Lawrence Kyster on Jan. 31, 1939, at St. Martin Catholic Church in Emery.  She lived all of her life on the family farm until the death of her husband on May 8, 1980, and then retired in Alexandria.  

She is survived by five daughters: Patricia (Harold) Carda of Hermosa, Jeanne (Chuck) Bruno of Omaha, Nebraska, Peg (Rich) Wenande of Brookings, Mary Lou (Bob) DeBlonk of Brookings and Monica (Ron) Kayser of Rockford, Illinois; one brother, 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence in 1980, three brothers: Lennie, Joe and Bernard and five sisters: Bernadette Krier, Helen Fuller, Mary Ralston, LaVerne Oyen and Sr. Armella Michels, O.S.F.
