Rutland School Board

The Rutland School District Board of Education will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Rutland board room. Items on the agenda include:

• Approve minutes

• Consideration of claims

• Financial report

• Public forum

• Prairie Lakes Co-op report

• Principal’s report

• Superintendent’s report

• Conflict of interest disclosures

• Comprehensive plan

• Trust and agency account transfers

• Resolution to amend and close the FY 2019 budget

The 2019-2020 school board annual meeting be held.

• Oaths of office for new members, Brooke Albertson and Ryan Olson

• Election of board president

• Election of board vice president

• Committee assignments

• Approve fiscal year 2019-2020 budget

• Designate depository for school funds – First Bank & Trust

• Designate official school newspaper – Madison Daily Leader

• Designate time and place for regular board meetings

• Authorize vice president to sign checks in absence of president

• Authorize business manager to negotiate loans and make investments with notes being signed by the board president

• Authorize superintendent or principal to dismiss school in case of bad weather

• Designate superintendent to be purchasing agent

• Set bond of $50,000 for superintendent and business manager

• Recognize school attorneys (Ericcson Law of Madison and Swier Law Firm)

• Designate general fund to receive interest from capital outlay, special education and pension funds 

Brookings City Council

The Brookings City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Brookings City & County Government Center at 520 Third St. Items on the agenda include:

• Approve agenda

• Approve minutes

• Action on a resolution approving public arts guidelines

• Open forum

• Disabilities Awareness Day proclamation

• Public hearing and action on a temporary alcohol application from the Brookings Cubs Baseball Group for a temporary alcohol license for the Brookings Cubs Baseball Games to be held on July 12, 18, 26, and August 9, 10, 11, at Bob Shelden Field, 530 Elm Ave.

• Public hearing and action on a resolution determining the necessity of repairing or installing sidewalks at the expense of abutting property owners 

• Second reading and action on an ordinance amending Chapter 2 of the Code of Ordinances and pertaining to the Brookings Public Arts Commission

• Second reading and action on an ordinance amending Chapter 2 of the Code of Ordinances and pertaining to the dedicated public art fund

• Action on a resolution addressing application of the International Building Code with respect to the proposed detention center expansion by Brookings County

• Action on  a resolution adopting written findings by the Brookings City Council approving / disapproving a proposal of the Brookings County Commission to expand its current detention center 

• City council member introduction of topics for future discussion

Sustainability Council

The Brookings Sustainability Council will meet at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Brookings City & County Government Center at 520 Third St. Items on the agenda include:
