Ahartz honored for volunteerism

BROOKINGS – The Helpline Center recently announced that Ken Ahartz was named the June 2018 Volunteer of the Month, an area-wide award program sponsored by the Helpline Center and Dakotaland Federal Credit Union.

Ahartz has volunteered with the Brookings Area Habitat for Humanity for more than 20 years and continues to loyally volunteer twice weekly on building projects.

Ahartz also delivers Meals on Wheels through his church, drives patients to Sioux Falls to receive treatments for cancer and other medical needs and volunteers with Veterans with Disabilities.

When volunteering, Ahartz brings a lighthearted personality and will often put a smile on everyone’s face. He is very dedicated to helping build these homes to give others a safe place to live. Ken is more than deserving of this award because he selflessly gives of his time and talents to make Brookings a great place for so many to call ‘Home’.
