Alberta Leona Buschenfeld was born on Sept. 13, 1926, in Deuel County, S.D., the daughter of John and Albena (Dohlman) Buschenfeld. She attended county school at Longmas School District near Toronto.

Once she was finished with school, she helped her mother keep the house on the family farm. She was united in marriage to Arthur Weinberg on February 3, 1948, in Hendricks, MN. They were blessed with one son, Kenneth.

The couple lived on a farm in Brookings county until they moved into Brookings in 1981. Art worked at SDSU while Bertha kept the house. She also babysat at various churches and later babysat her grandchildren, Michael and Angela. Art passed away in 1989.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed putting puzzles together and always had time for a cup of coffee. She cherished the many friendships she developed while living at the Yorkshire Apartments.

Bertha is survived by her son, Ken (Susan) Weinberg, of Brookings, SD; two grandchildren, Michael (Monika) Weinberg and Angela (Nic) Polly, all of Brookings; eight grandchildren, Dylan, Brendan, Kolby, McKenna, Jayda, Issak, Ally and Ty; sister, Lillian VanDykHorst, of Watertown, SD, and Raymond Buschenfeld, of Clear Lake, SD.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Art and two brothers, Melvin and Clarence.
