Alberta Schulte, 77, of Brookings, died Monday, March 6, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Society in Clear Lake. 

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rude’s Funeral Home. Private family burial is planned. Rude’s Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 Alberta L. Chenoweth was born on Jan. 8, 1940, to Alfred and Dulenia (Churchill) Chenoweth in Brookings. She attended Fountain School in Brookings County and went until the eighth grade. On Nov. 29, 1954, she married George Schulte in Ivanhoe, Minn. They had 11 children. They made their home in Brookings County. Alberta worked at the White Care Center, Brookings Hospital Home Health, Falcon Plastics and MTR. In 2010 Alberta started having health problems and could no longer work.

Alberta enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s school activities and various functions. 

Alberta is survived by her children, Michael (Linda) Schulte of Junction City, Kan., Cindy Aasby of Mt. Vernon, Daniel (Cheri) Schulte of Harris, Minn., Paul (Sherri) Schulte of Lispon, N.D., Kurt Schulte of Colorado Springs, Colo., Bart (Cindy) Schulte of Huron, Gretchen (Mark) Kuehl, of Huron, Erick (Deb) Schulte of Brookings, Sandra Flores of White Lake, Jess (Rhonda) Schulte of Brookings and Chris (Robin) Schulte of Brookings; 33 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Patricia Jensen of Arlington, Bernice Koester of De Smet and Delores (Clarence) Buschenfeld of Clear Lake.

Alberta was preceded in death by her husband, George, on Sept. 5, 2007 and one brother in infancy.
