Aldon Palmer Strom, age 95, of Brookings and formerly of White, passed away Monday, Feb. 17, 2020, at the Brookings Hospital. 

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, at Zion Lutheran Church in White with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery.  Visitations will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. 

Aldon was born on Nov. 30, 1924, in Hartshorn, Alberta, Canada, the son of Willihlem and Dora (Bakke) Strom. He moved with his parents to Astoria, SD at the age of eight months old. He received his education at country school through the eighth grade. He then began working for neighbors, helping farming and doing chores. He was united in marriage to Anna Marie Broekhuizen on November 29, 1947, at Eastside Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD, they were married for 72 memorable years. After their marriage they farmed near Harrisburg, SD, until 1956, when they moved to a farm north of White, SD. In 1994, they retired and moved into White, and in 2015, moved to Brookings, SD.

 He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.  His love for farming and the earth was never ending.  Spring was his favorite time of the year.  His true pride were his nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.  He enjoyed hunting, and especially camping and fishing with his grandchildren.

 Survivors include his wife Anna Marie Strom of Brookings; sons, David (Pricilla) Strom of Brookings, Marvin (Phyllis) Strom of Rapid City, Larry (Valerie) Strom of San Antonio, TX, and Richard (Kristi) Strom of White; nine grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.  Aldon was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Orland and Wayne; and two sisters, Ardelle and Delores. 

 Memorials are preferred to the White Ambulance.
