Andrew “Andy” Studer, age 54, of Brookings, passed away, Friday, April 19, 2019, at home from natural causes. Visitations will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2019, at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2019, at First Lutheran Church in Volga, with visitation one hour prior to the funeral. Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Andrew Thomas Studer was born June 3, 1964, to James and Constance (Martin) Studer in Trimont, MN. His stepmother, Beverly Studer raised him from a young age. Andy grew up in Sherburn, MN; and graduated from Sherburn High School in 1982. After high school, Andy continued his education and graduated with an Associate Degree. He worked in the area for several years before moving to South Dakota.
In 1991, Andy married Judy Strom. Together, they had three children; James, Kaylee, and Alec. Andy and Judy later divorced. In January 2008, Andy met his life partner, Dawn Tveito.
Andy worked for Twin City Fan in Brookings as Plant Supervisor from 1989-2000. At which time, he went to work for the City of Aurora as their City Maintenance Manager.
He continued working for Aurora until 2015, when he suffered a severe stroke. After much therapy, Andy was able to return to living on his own, but was not able to return to work. Even though communication was difficult for Andy, he truly enjoyed meeting new friends and spending time with old ones. He will be forever grateful for all of his dear friendships.
Andy loved to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He also loved golfing, snowmobiling, hunting deer and pheasant, and helping his friends on farms in the Aurora area.
Andy was a volunteer firefighter and first responder for 20+ years. He enjoyed listening to music and watching his beloved Vikings, Twins, and SDSU Jackrabbits.
Survivors include his children, James Studer (Fiancé, Kennen Block) of Buckeye, AZ, Kaylee (Adam) Hill of Brookings, and Alec Studer of Tolleson, AZ; grandchildren, Damon and Corbin Hill; sisters, Marsha Studer (Bill Weaver) of St. Paul, MN, and Jane (Dale) Burkhardt of Trimont, MN; brother, Douglas Studer of Las Vegas, NV; stepmother, Kathy Studer of Mankato, MN; and his life partner, Dawn Tveito of Volga.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim Studer and Connie; stepmother, Beverly Dukes; sister, Kay Studer and many other relatives.
