Anna Mary Haase, 100, of Brookings, SD, died on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at the United Living Community in Brookings, SD.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 14, 2021 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Brookings, SD. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2021, at Rude’s Funeral Home, Brookings, SD. Rude’s Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Anna Mary Kormendy was born on May 25, 1921, in Walworth County, SD, the daughter of George and Sophia (Zambo) Kormendy. She attended rural school in the Spring Valley School District in South Dakota. In 1932, she moved with her family to a farm southeast of Selby, SD. In 1939, she moved to Sioux Falls, SD, where she was employed at various places. Anna was united in marriage to Lloyd W. Haase on June 16, 1952, in Brookings. After their marriage she was a day care provider for children in her home for many years. Lloyd died on July 6, 1995, in Brookings, SD.
Anna was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic parish and the ladies Guild. She was an active volunteer at the United Living Community for many years. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting and gardening.
She is survived by her children Deborah (Tom) Delaney of Brookings and Patricia Stoick of Kasson, MN, 18 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd; two sons, Ronald Haase and Richard Haase; one daughter, Paulette Mellendorf; nine sisters and six brothers.
