Anna Rentschler, 81, of Egan, died Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at her home. 

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Monday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Flandreau. Burial is in Hillside Cemetery in Egan. Visitation is 2 – 5 p.m. Sunday at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau with a prayer service beginning at  3 p.m. Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.

Anna was born March 23, 1936, at Humboldt, to George and Anna (Bethlem) DeJong. She graduated from Colton High School in Colton. Anna married Verlyn Rentschler on March 9, 1955. She worked as a cleaning maid, home health caregiver, and at the Flandreau Bakery. She drove school bus for 36 years, driving for Egan, Colman-Egan, and Flandreau. Anna was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, WELCA, ELCA, EMT for the Egan Fire Department, Quilting Ladies, and Egan PTA. 

Anna is survived by her husband, Verlyn; five children, Cynthia Menning of Flandreau,  Charles (Sharon) of Colman, Clayton (Vicki) of Flandreau, Crystal (Kevin) Page of Artesian and Cathy Jo Loehr of Egan; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sister, Frieda Bos of Beresford; brother, Ray (Joan) DeJong of Dell Rapids and a host of other relatives and friends. 

Anna was preceded in death by her son, Craig; siblings, Jake DeJong, Charlie DeJong, George DeJong, Thres Burgers, Dorothy Swier, and Susan Bassett; son-in-law, Tim Menning; mother and father-in-law, Ruby and Charles Rentschler; and other in-laws.
