Area BBB: ORR, Deubrook Area win

Oldham-Ramona/Rutland and Deubrook Area each earned wins in area boys’ basketball games over the weekend, while Estelline/Hendricks fell to Dell rapids St. Mary.

The Raiders defeated Colman-Egan and Deubrook Area knocked off Lake Preston.

 Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 70, Colman-Egan 40

RUTLAND – Will Matson posted a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds as Oldham-Ramona/Rutland remained undefeated with a 70-40 win over Colman-Egan.

Matson also added five assists.

Isaac Trygstad recorded 13 points and six rebounds, while Will Olson chipped in with 11 points and five rebounds.

The Hawks (0-5) were led by Antonio Manzano with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Sawyer Uhing added 10 points.

Oldham-Ramona/Rutland plays host to James Valley Christian tomorrow as part of doubleheader. The boys’ game is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. with the girls’ game preceeding it.

Colman-Egan hosts Bridgewater-Emery tonight at 6 p.m.

 Dell Rapids St. Mary 53, Estelline/Hendricks 47

DELL RAPIDS – Braxton Saathoff scored 21 points and grabbed five rebounds, and Dawson Bury added 17 points and five rebounds, but the Estelline/Hendricks Redhawks came up short at Dell Rapids St. Mary on Friday in Dell Rapids.

Bury also added four steals and three assists in the contest.

Joe McAninch chipped in with seven points, five rebounds, and two steals for the Redhawks.

Dylan Mathis led the Cardinals with 15 points, and both Ty Brown and John Pica added nine points each.

Dell Rapids St. Mary led by 12 after three quarters, 38-26.

Estelline/Hendricks (4-3) hosts Great Plains Lutheran tomorrow as part of a doubleheader with the Redhawks’ girls’ basketball team.

 Deubrook Area 71, Lake Preston 44

WHITE – Andrew Trooien scored 20 points and went 4-of-4 at the free throw line as the Dolphins raced out to a 28-13 lead after one quarter in picking up the win over Lake Preston.

Nick Bowne added 19 points, while Mason Shaw dropped in three baskets for six points.

The Divers were led by Riley Casper with 16 points including a trio of triples, and Josh McMasters had 14 points.

Lake Preston (1-8) travels to De Smet on Friday at 7:30 p.m., while Deubrook Area (3-3) heads to Estelline to take on the Redhawks on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
