Area VB: Redhawks, Hawks pick up victories


Garretson, Estelline/Hendricks, Chester Area and Colman-Egan all picked up wins in volleyball. Garretson topped Flandreau, Estelline/Hendricks beat Great Plains Lutheran, Chester defeated Elkton-Lake Benton and Colman-Egan won against De Smet.

• Garretson 3, Flandreau 0

The Blue Dragons swept the Fliers in straight sets 25-16, 25-22 and 25-6.

Kennedy Buckenberg led Garretson with 11 kills. Peyton Hove had 10 assists and Jaelyn Benson had eight. Lauren Heesh had 10 digs.

Claire Sheppard had 10 digs and six blocks and three kills for Flandreau. Alison Rice had 10 digs and Macy Kneebone had five assists.

• Estelline/Hendricks 4, Great Plains Lutheran 1

The Redhawks took the first set 25-12 and GPL responded with a 25-22 win in the second set. Estelline/Hendricks then took the next two sets 25-15 and 25-12.

Kaylee Johnson led the Redhawks with 24 digs, 13 kills and six aces. Kylie Beare had 16 digs and 13 kills. Kate Wegner had 18 digs and Sadie Johnson had 38 assists.

Bryn Holmen had seven kills and five blocks. Ellie Scharlemann had 14 digs and Mali York had six kills. Olivia Giovannettone had 10 digs and 13 assists.

• Chester 4, Elkton-Lake Benton 1

Chester took the first set in a close one 25-23 and they took set two 25-19. ELB kept the match going by winning the third set 25-13, but Chester bounced back and won the fourth set 25-18.

Emery Larson had 45 digs for the Fliers. Kenna Brown had 39 assists and 27 digs. Ella Pry had 12 kills. Breckyn Ewoldt and Jayda Kenyon each had 11 kills. Karly Campbell had 24 digs.

Hannah Krog led the way for ELB with 19 kills and 19 digs. Julia Drietz had 41 assists and 25 digs. Rachael Krog had 24 digs and Tevan Erickson had nine kills.

Monday

 Colman-Egan 3, De Smet 0

The Hawks won the match in three sets 25-8, 25-16 and 25-17.

Kennedi Landis had 14 assists and six aces for CE. Olivia Baumberger had eight kills and two blocks. Braiden Westley had six kills, five assists, five digs and one block.

Kennadi Buckholz had seven kills four blocks and two aces for De Smet. Emma Albrecht had eight digs and six assists. Ella Poppinga had nine digs.
