Six area volleyball teams were in action on Thursday night with Elkton-Lake Benton, Estelline/Hendricks and Deubrook Area coming away with sweeps while Colman-Egan scored a come from behind victory of Castlewood.

Area volleyball: Three teams come away with sweeps

Six area volleyball teams were in action on Thursday night with Elkton-Lake Benton, Estelline/Hendricks and Deubrook Area coming away with sweeps while Colman-Egan scored a come from behind victory of Castlewood.

 Elkton-Lake Benton 3, Arlington 0

The Elks improved to 17-2 on the season after sweeping the Cardinals 25-18, 25-10, 25-14 on Thursday night.

Rachel Krog had a big night for the Elks with 21 digs and 16 kills. Kaillyn Drietz also had a solid performance, collecting eight kills and seven digs. Andrea Renkly had nine digs and six kills in the win while Kylie Ramlo had seven digs. Tegan Erickson also had 30 assists and 18 digs while Kayla Goertz had eight digs.

Tanya Weiss had 15 assists and 11 digs for the Cardinals while Natalie Burns had nine kills on the night. Maya Larson had six kills and Holy Johnson had 10 digs.

The Elks will be in action on Tuesday night when they host West Central. Arlington fell to 15-7 with the loss and will host Deuel on Tuesday.

 Estelline/Hendricks 3, De Smet 0

The Red Hawks defeated the Bulldogs on Thursday night winning in three sets by a score of 25-17, 25-20, 20-10.

Kenzie Bare led the way for Estelline/Hendricks, collecting 17 kills on the evening. Claire Dagel led the Red Hawks with five blocks on the night while Julie Williams had a team-high 22 digs, Sadie Johnson had a team-high 24 assists and 19 digs and Heidi Nicola recorded 18 digs.

The Red Hawks improved to 14-5 with the win will be in action again when they travel to Waverly/South Shore on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs fell to 8-8 and will travel to Iroquois/Lake Preston on Tuesday night.

 Deubrook Area 3, Oldham-Ramona Rutland 0

The Dolphins swept the Raiders on Thursday night, winning in three sets by scores of 25-23, 25-17 and 25-20.

Skyla Petersen, Miranda Moravetz and Zoey Molengraaf led the way for Deubrook with a team-high eight kills. Moravetz also led the Dolphins with a team-high 19 digs while Delaney Petersen had 15 and Taylor Ekern recorded 11. Broke Koppatschek led Deubrook with 15 assists while Ellie Koenig had 13 in the victory.

Julia Trygstad led the Raiders with 10 kills on the night while Bailey Hyland had eight kills and 13 digs. Paige Hanson had a team-high 14 assists while Brooklyn Hageman had 11 assists in the loss.

The Dolphins improved to 10-6 with the win and will host Milbank on Tuesday night. The Raiders fell to 9-7 and will host James Valley Christian on Tuesday night.

 Colman-Egan 3, Castlewood 2

The Hawks outlasted the Warriors on Thursday night, winning in five sets by scores of 25-18, 23-25, 14-25, 25-18, 15-11.

Daniela Lee led the come-from-behind victory by the Hawks, racking up 11 kills and 23 digs and eight blocks on the night. Lanie Mousel had 25 assists for Colman-Eagan while Ava Mousel had 20 assists. Dance Landis had 10 kills and five blocks, Abby Rhode had eight kills and seven blocks, Berkley Groos had 22 digs and nine kills, Brynlee Landis had nine kills and six blocks and Presley Luze had 15 digs.

The Hawks improved to 12-6 with the win and will travel to Chester on Monday. Castlewood fell to 11-5 and will travel to St. Mary on Monday.
