BROOKINGS – An Arkansas man was arrested on multiple charges early Sunday morning after several disturbances in downtown Brookings, including allegedly assaulting a law enforcement officer, according to Brookings Police.
Sgt. Joel Perry said officers were notified that Colten Waldmann, 26, was causing problems with people downtown. Police gave him a warning and told him to move along, Perry said.
Officers again had contact with Waldmann around 2 a.m. Sunday, for a report of a disorderly male attempting to fight bystanders.
Perry said officers were arresting Waldmann for an outstanding warrant when he became physical with them, kicking an officer in the leg. The injured officer was taken to the Brookings Hospital.
Waldmann was arrested on suspicion of disorderly contact, obstruction, resisting arrest and assault against a law enforcement officer.
