Arlene Regina Sattler was born Sept. 23, 1936, to Frank and Margaret (Neuberger) Sattler in Webster, SD. She grew up on a farm northeast of Eden and attended rural country school.
On Oct. 12, 1953, she married Louis Streier in Eden. They farmed for 29 years in Red Iron Township. While on the farm she helped milking cows and feeding calves. She always had a big garden which allowed for canning in the fall. She loved to cook and bake, and enjoyed taking care of everyone who came to the farm, whether they were family or friends.
For a short time she worked in Eden at Dakota and the Blue Denim. She also cleaned houses in Eden, the rectory at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and cabins at Roykota.
Her faith was strong and she was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and had been active in the Altar Society.
Arlene passed away Friday, Sept. 23, 2022, on her 86th birthday, at Wheatcrest Hills Nursing Home in Britton surrounded by family.
Grateful for having shared her life are her sons: Elroy (Margie) Streier of Brookings, SD, John (Becky) Streier of Eden, SD, and Steve (Debbie) Streier of Aberdeen, SD; her brother, LaVerne (Marie) Sattler of Sisseton, SD; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
