Arlington beats De Smet in girls’ hoops action

ARLINGTON – The homestanding Cardinals dropped rival De Smet 43-37 in a girls’ basketball matchup Thursday night.

De Smet was up 8-4 after a quarter and 23-17 at halftime, before the Tara King-led Cardinals stormed ahead with a big third quarter – outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 16-2 to grab a 33-25 advantage.

Hadley Carlson led all scorers with 15 points.

Addalyn Steffensen, Jolyssa Steffensen and Brenley Goebel each scored six points off the bench.

De Smet got a double-double of 10 points and 14 rebounds from Kennadi Buchholz. Camryn Schmidt added 11 points.

The teams combined for 51 turnovers, with the Lady Bulldogs committing 33.
