Arlington, DRSM advance to DVC Championship

WHITE – Arlington and Dell Rapids St. Mary advanced to the championship game of the Dakota Valley Conference Boys Tournament Thursday night. Arlington topped Lake Preston and DRSM beat Colman-Egan.

• Arlington 62, Lake Preston 34

Arlington jumped out to a big first half lead and ran away from the Lake Preston to advance in the DVC championship. The Cardinals outscored the Divers 35-18 in the first half. They took a commanding lead after outscoring Lake Preston 15-5 in the third quarter.

Trevor Larsen scored 21 points and led the Cardinals. Trey Ramstad had 14 points and Ryker Erstad had 10. Casey Stegemon had six points and Mason Bunker had five.

The Divers were led by Jasper Denison and he had 10 points. Carter Malone had eight points.

 Dell Rapids St. Mary 70, Colman-Egan 55 

The Cardinals used a good second half to pull away from the Hawks. DRSM was up 33-28 at the end of the first half. They were then able to outscore CE by five in the third and fourth quarter to pull away. 22-17 in the third and 15-10 in the fourth.

Connor Libis had a huge game for the Cardinals. He had 34 points, three rebounds and three assists. Max Herber had 12 points and Sam Palmer had 11.

The Hawks were led by Dalton Voelker who had 21 points, 15 rebounds and four assists. Nate Tolley had 11 points and six rebounds. Chase Hemmer and Camden Schmidt had seven points each. Ty Hiller had six points.

Dell Rapids St. Mary will play in the championship at 8 p.m. Saturday against Arlington. Colman-Egan will face Lake Preston at 4 p.m. in the third place game.

Consolation Semifinals

 Elkton-Lake Benton 60, Oldham-Ramona Rutland 36

The Elks locked down the Raiders in the first quarter, outscoring them 7-1 and didn’t look back. ELB outscored ORR 21-14 in the second quarter to take a 28-15 lead going into halftime. They then outscored the Raiders 32-21 in the second half to pull away and advance to the fifth place game.

Grant Deruyter led the Elks with 20 points and seven rebounds. Matt Nibbe had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for ELB. Will Matson led ORR with 11 points.

 Estelline/Hendricks 55, Deubrook Area 51

In a very even game between the Redhawks and the Dolphins and Estelline/Hendricks was able to pull it out and advance to the fifth place game.

The Dolphins had a two point lead after the first quarter, but the Redhawks were able to outscore them 12-8 in the second and took a 28-26 lead into halftime. EH then outscored Deubrook 12-10 in the third quarter and the teams each scored 15 points in the final frame.

Spencer Lutz led the Redhawks with 17 points. Riley Benning had eight points and Joe McAninch and Braxton Saathoff each had six points. Marcis Hausman, Dawson Bury and Jacoby Flegel each had five points.

The Dolphins were led by Nick Bowne who had 16 points. Andrew Trooien had 14 pooints and Dereck Molengraaf had 11. Mason Shaw had six points and Carter Ekern had two.

Estelline Hendricks will face Elkton/Lake Benton at 1 p.m. in the fifth place game Saturday. Deubrook Area will take on Oldham-Ramona/Rutland at 2:30 p.m.
